We create our whole world by the way we think. Thoughts are the causes and conditions are the effects. Our conditions and situations are not dictated by the world outside; it is the world inside us that creates the outside.
Read MoreOur kids are just as anxious and disheartened as we are right now. They have never experienced anything like this before.
Although the idea of being away from school for some weeks initially sounded exciting as they were probably picturing a fun time like a summer or winter break, not the reality of being caught at homes and unable to meet friends.
Over the last few weeks, you may have already seen an increase in behavior issues with your kids. Whether it's anxiety, anger, or sudden outburst.
You may have even noticed breakdown, tantrums, and defiant behaviour. This is completely natural and anticipated under these conditions.
What kids need right now is to feel comforted, admired and loved. They need to be assured that everything is going to be fine soon.
Don't struggle with your kids if they don't want to do study. Don't get angry if they are unable to follow your instructions or work independently. We assure you we would take care of everything and kids will be on the right track soon once we resume to normalcy.
Currently, our children are our priority and their mental and emotional well being is more valuable than their academic skills given in the current pandemic crisis.
However, we urge you to use encouraging words for our children to help them complete their school related chores as they have powerful positive effects on kids. This is because positive reinforcement can condition a child to repeat the praised behavior.
If your kids balk about the task at hand from the start, Dr. Deci advises parents to begin by seeing it from your child's point of view. Then talk about the importance of the activity in a way that is respectful.
Asking your child how it feels doing a particular task while she's doing it can also contribute to the kind of happy atmosphere that makes kids want to cooperate. Questions like, "What do you think about doing your homework by yourself?" and "How does it make you feel having finished that homework now?" can lead kids to insights they might not have had otherwise about their accomplishments.
The school at this hour requests for parent cooperation and will appreciate the efforts of the parents if they assist the students to upload the completed worksheets given.
On behalf of all of our staff, I wish you, your family and your loved ones health and safety.
Thank you,
